The official website for original anime Kochoki: Wakaki Nobunaga has revealed not only a second poster but also that its TV premiere will take place on July 8, 2019.
The anime will premiere on AT-X on July 8th at 9:30 PM before airing later that night on Tokyo MX and BS Fuji. The series will then begin streaming on WOWOWOW on July 10th. Additionally, the series will begin streaming through d Anime Store (Docomo Anime Store) and other streaming services in Japan in July.
An advance screening of the first three episodes of the anime will be held at Cinem@rt Shinjuku in Tokyo on June 23. Cast members Yūsuke Kobayashi, Yumiri Hanamori, and Shinnosuke Tachibana will participate in the screening.
The anime will reunite the staff of the Hakuouki franchise, including character designer Atsuko Nakajima, story supervisor Ryota Yamaguchi, and screenwriter Megumu Sasano. Additionally, Kaoru Sawada (Diamond Daydreams, Junji Ito “Collection”) is also writing the story, and Noriyuki Abe (Yū Yū Hakusho, Bleach, GTO: Great Teacher Onizuka, The Heroic Legend of Arslan) is directing.
The anime will offer a "bold interpretation" of the historical figure Oda Nobunaga, beginning with his youth as a teenager. The series will follow his rivalry with his younger brother.
Oda Nobunaga was a great daimyo of the Sengoku period in Japanese history. Son of Oda Nobuhide, a warrior of minor importance and little land in the province of Owari, Nobunaga lived a life of continuous military conquests until he conquered almost all of Japan, when he was assassinated in 1582. His successors were Toyotomi Hideyoshi and Tokugawa Ieyasu who, like Oda, were figures of extreme importance in Japanese history. Nobunaga is remembered in Japan as one of the most brutal figures of the Sengoku period.
Since January 10th, an adaptation into a novel has been published on Animage, which will serve as both a prequel and a spinoff.
As for additional cast members, we have: Taiten Kusunoki as Oda Nobuhide, Hidenari Ugaki as Shibata Katsuie, Mugihito as Hirate Masahide, Kenichirou Matsuda as Hayashi Hidesada, Kousuke Toriumi as Hayashi Michitomo, Ryohei Kimura as Sakuma Nobumori, Atsushi Tamaru as Sakuma Morishige, Ayumu Murase as Oda Hidetaka, Masako Katsuki as Dota Gozen and Tesshō Genda as Saitō Dōsan.
