The official Twitter account for the anime adaptation of the light novel Kono Yuusha ga Ore TUEEE Kuse ni Shinchō Sugiru (Light Tuchihi's The Hero Is Overpowered but Overly Cautious) began streaming the anime's first promotional video on Monday (August 8). The video reveals the two main cast members of the anime.
Yuichiro Umehara will play the protagonist Seiya Ryūgūin, while Aki Toyosaki will play Ristarte.
The anime will premiere in October. Masayuki Sakoi (Sword Art Online Alternative: Gun Gale Online, Matoi the Sacred Slayer, Celestial Method) is directing the anime at White Fox. Kenta Ihara (Saga of Tanya the Evil, Vinland Saga) is writing and supervising the series scripts, and Mai Toda (Matoi the Sacred Slayer, Girls' Last Tour) is designing the characters.
The story begins when the goddess Rista summons a hero to help her hard-mode video game-like world. The hero, Seiya, is exceptional in every way, but he is incredibly cautious. He does things like buying three sets of armor (one to wear, one spare, and a spare for the spare) and going all out against weak slimes (just in case).
Tsuchihi launched the novel series on the Kakuyomu website in June 2016, and Kadokawa published the first print volume with illustrations by Saori Toyota in February 2017. The fifth volume was released last November.
Koyuki (Log Horizon: The West Wind Brigade) launched the manga adaptation in Kadokawa's Monthly Dragon Age magazine last November, and Kadokawa shipped the first volume on May 9.
