In episode 21 of the second season of Kusuriya in Hitorigoto , released on June 6, Shenmei locks out in a chamber and uses the Taibon method as punishment. The protagonist receives help from Suire and Kyou-U to escape the fortress. However, a strange smell coming from the bottom floor catches your eye, leading it to investigate the place.
At the beginning of the episode, while Momao tries to develop youth medicine, Kyou-U sends her a letter with a wire and instructions to escape. However, the guard responsible for the mooming room discovers the boy's plan and reveals it to Suire. The woman, who tries to soften the situation, suggests that they leave the event aside. However, Shenmei witnesses the agitation and decides to punish the boy.
Momao protects Kyou-U and is punished by Shenmei
Maomao realizes that Shenmei is cruel and unpleasant and that, in fact, his only concern is to punish someone. The apothecaria, who is angry with the woman's attitude, insults her, and this makes Shenmei be interested in punishing Kyou-U aside. With this, she decides to punish the maramao and take her to the water chamber. However, Loulan suggests that the mother use Taibon, a form of punishment in which poisonous animals are used. The work reveals that Shenmei has already used the method of torture with Suire, it is no wonder she feels dread of snakes.
Momao transforms punishment into a gastronomic experience. With only two hair decorations, which she won from Jinshi and Loulan, she bakes the snakes that were in the chamber. Kusuriya at Hitorigoto is a work that surprises with a well -built script, but, above all, impresses with the genius and irony of the main character. Moma's passion for medicines and its unique way of solving mysteries are characteristics that highlight the protagonist regarding other characters.
Suirei and Kyou-U convince the guard, who was involved in the conflict earlier, to release the mooaa. After all, she also saved him from receiving a punishment. When the guard lets out the apothecaria, he warns her to avoid walking down as they are making gunpowder and he fears an explosion. However, even with the council, Momao decides to verify the production of gunpowder and, on the spot, finds Loulan trying to convince everyone to flee and ready to set the area burning.
Loulan reveals that Suirei has imperial blood
After Loulan explodes the floor of gunpowder production, Momao tries to help her run away. However, she says there are still things she needs to do. While Momao follows her, Loulan tells a little about the past. According to her, her mother does not remember her face, as they began to apply her makeup when she was too young to understand. Shenmei only treated her well when Loulan was made up, dressed in elegance and behaved like an obedient daughter.
Loulan also reveals that Taihou, servant who was the meeting of terror tales and passed away a year ago, is the grandmother of Suire. Taihou was the emperor's first victim and, when she conceived, expelled her daughter from the Imperial Palace to cover up the acts of the former emperor. After the victim's daughter grows, Shishou married her, and they conceived Sui. Thus, the woman, who is the granddaughter of the former emperor, has imperial blood and is hated by Shenmei since birth.
After telling about his past, Loulan arrives at the desired place. To the surprise of Momao, in the room there are several fainted children, including Kyou-U. Loulan says the kids are not breathing, as she gave them a medicine. She explains that after all they did, everyone will die, including women and children. The episode ends without further explanations by Loulan. Thus, it is not possible to know if children are indeed dead.
Kusuriya at Hitorigoto: What to expect from the next episode?
According to the preview of the next episode, it seems that Lakan manages to convince Jinshi to move the army. Thus there will be a war between the Emperor guards and the men who are in the service of Shishou. The anime is approaching the outcome and, with only three remaining episodes, it is likely that after the conflict, the plot starts to complete Shishou's arc.
Kusuriya in Hitorigoto is a work full of mysteries and layers, but it leaves no loose ends. Details displayed in the first season resumed in the second, such as Suire itself, revealing that everything was connected from the beginning. In addition to the interesting historical scenario, with political intrigue and the imperial family on the rise, the cunning of Momao is also a fundamental piece in the construction of the anime.
Episode 22 will be released on Friday (13) on the Crunchyroll streaming platform, with Portuguese subtitles. The manga is being published in Brazil by Panini and, so far, 14 volumes are available.
