The official website for the Kyoukai no Kanata (Beyond the Boundary) series announced the first trailer for the highly anticipated film based on the series. The film is scheduled for release in spring 2015.
The story follows Akihito Kanbara, a second year high school boy. Although his body appears human, he is half “youmu”, in addition to being immortal for exactly that reason. One day, Akihito meets freshman Kuriyama Mirai when it looks like she is about to jump off the school roof. Mirai remains isolated because of her ability to manipulate blood, which is unique even among the so-called Ikaishi, people with the duty to defeat the youmu. After Akihito saves Mirai, disturbing events begin to happen.
The anime's first season premiered in Japan in October last year. Pay channel Crunchyroll is currently streaming the anime in several countries since it aired in Japan. Sentai Filmworks also announced in October that it has licensed the anime for America. from the North. Kyoukai no Kanata based on the light novel by Nagomu Torii received an honorable mention in the romance category of the Kyoto Animation Award program in 2011.
