Lazarus episode 7 follows the team once again in a search for Dr. Skinner. In episode 6, the Lazarus group found the Torre da Truth religious community, which venerated artificial intelligence Naga. When AI was created, Dr. Skinner's brain was used as a model. Thus, in the current episode, through data left by Naga, they discover coordinates of submerged islands acquired by the scientist.
Anime Lazarus combines elements of old animations to build a narrative about a current and much discussed theme. The story occurs in 2052, when the characters need to face two issues related to the future of humanity. Global warming is increasingly present, and the day when the Hapuna drug will extinguish a large part of the population is close.
The Lazarus team finds Dr. Skinner's submerged islands
As with other episodes, the team divides to look for clues about Skinner's location. Therefore, each one goes to one of the islands acquired by him. Doug goes to the Philippines, Axel goes to the Maldives, Leland goes to Taketonomi, Chris goes to Tuvalu and finally Elaina remains behind the scenes monitoring the situation through the screens.
When they arrive at the scene, they find nothing. However, both remind the beauty of nature, and the rarity of finding the clean sky and sea. Elaina even says that the only beautiful places are those where there are no humans. Chris, thrilled, reflects that what they are seeing is true earth, and that humans are destroying it. The scene thrills and is an exact reflection of what we are living today.
In addition, there is a scene at the beginning of the episode, in which a newspaper releases that Arctic's latest ice block melted, and a video, which shows that Skinner three years ago predicted what would happen, begins to viralize.
Despite not discovering the scientist's location, Axel Gilberto meets a man who says he suffers from analgesia. In other words, he is a person unable to feel pain. Therefore, he has never seen the need to eat hapuna. In addition, he reveals that most people who lived on that island suffered from analgesia. This information may be important in the future.
Elaina discovers Hirsch's secret
At the end of the episode, two interesting things that can be a hook for the next chapter happen. When Chris is leaving the island, she finds a woman who seems to know her. The stranger is that the Lazarus team member is startled by the meeting. It is possible that the woman is someone who played an important role in Chris's life, or somehow represents danger.
Also, this episode made it clear that Hirsch had a relationship with Dr. Skinner. She seems to know him well and confirms that he really was a good person, but also does not understand the reason behind the creation of Hapuna. Finally, Elaina finds a list of data with all affiliates to the Hague Institute, and Hirsch is on the list, which makes the young woman confused and surprised.
The episode has no action scenes, he highlights the narrative and the problem that humanity has been facing global warming. Although hapuna and warming are two distinct problems, they are related, as according to information revealed so far, Dr. Skinner has created the painkiller as a way to punish society for not caring about the problems the planet presents.
However, the real reason behind the creation of hapun is still a mystery. Perhaps its creation is a way to unite people to seek healing and later save the planet in a united way. It is likely that the reason is not just revenge, and that Skinner really thought of something bigger with the creation of the painkiller. Now, 14 days left for the possible death of the population, and the Lazarus group needs to find the scientist as soon as possible.
The anime is available on the Max streaming platform, with voice acting in Portuguese. The next episode is scheduled to be released on May 25th. Keep following AnimeNew for more information about Lazarus and everything that involves the Otaku world!
