Leiji Matsumoto – Creator of Star Patrol dies at 85

It was revealed that Mangaka Leiji Matsumoto died at the age of 85 from acute heart failure on February 13th. Matsumoto was known for creating science fiction classics, including: Yamato Star Patrol , Galaxy Express 999, Captain Harlock, among others.

In Brazil, his best-known work was Star Patrol Yamato , an animation that won over several fans in the 1980s.

Synopsis:

The story revolves around the adventures of the crew of the space battleship Yamato, adapted for space travel in the year 2199, from the Japanese battleship Yamato, sinking in World War II. Until then, its wreckage was stranded at the bottom of the ocean. It was adapted to be Earth's last hope in resisting attacks from the planet Gamilon.

Finally, Matsumoto was born on January 25, 1938, in the city of Kurume , in the Fukuoka region.
