The new Resident Evil Requiem presented at The Game Awards 2025 finally confirms Leon S. Kennedy as a playable character alongside Grace Ashcroft . Furthermore, the video shows never-before-seen gameplay highlighting Leon with an older, action-ready look. Meanwhile, Grace appears as the younger, more vulnerable counterpart, creating an interesting contrast for the narrative.
We can see Leon wielding a chainsaw and brutally eliminating zombies; in this way, the character once again assumes the role of a combat-focused hero, something that previously fell to Chris Redfield. In the trailer, he receives mysterious instructions while exploring a mansion belonging to a doctor connected to Umbrella. The voice guiding him may be that of Sherry Birkin, however, this does not yet guarantee her presence as a playable character.
On the other hand, the video also suggests more open environments beyond the franchise's traditional closed settings. However, it's still unclear which areas will actually be explorable and which are only part of the cinematics.
Resident Evil Requiem arrives on February 27, 2026 and is already available for pre-order on Nuuvem.
