Artist James Clyne, responsible for films like Avatar, recently published some concept art he created for Warner Bros., related to the live-action film Akira. Clyne was hired when director Ruairi Robinson was chosen to direct the film.

James Clyne was responsible for major concepts for films such as Ender's Game and Oblivion. Since then, several other directors have had the project in their hands, although most recently  Jaume Collet-Serra, who said in an interview that he hopes Akira will be his next work.

The original Cyberpunk story takes place in Neo-Tokyo, a rebuilt Tokyo (over what is now Tokyo Bay) after being destroyed in World War III. It is later revealed that World War III was (supposedly) started by the uncontrollable growth of supernatural powers in a child named Akira.

For now, let's hope that the Akira movie makes it to the big screen.
