The highly anticipated live-action adaptation of the famous Titans series has received new updates on its production. Shinji Higuchi, who previously worked as a storyboard artist on Neon Genesis Evangelion Gamera monster movies in the 90s, will direct. Yusuke Watanabe (Dragon Ball Z: Battle of Gods) is writing the script. All indications point to a 2015 production. Filming is expected to begin in the summer of 2014, and the cast has not yet been announced.
Released in 2009, the Attack on Titan manga has currently sold 25 million copies . The story was adapted into a 25-episode anime that premiered this April.
The original story revolves around young Eren Yeager, his adopted sister Mikasa Ackerman, and their friend Armin Arlert, who live in a world where the remnants of the human population live inside cities surrounded by enormous walls due to the appearance of the Titans, giant humanoid creatures that devour humans seemingly without reason.
