Lycoris Recoil fans can celebrate: there is a new anime, fully separated from the series of animated shorts that opens in April. Director Shingo Adachi explained to the Mantan Web that he started development of the main project shortly after the end of the first season and continues to work on him very carefully.
"Maybe they think the shorts are the new project, but we are also working on a new animation. I just ask you to wait a little longer," said Adachi.
The confusion arose because the announcement of the new anime, made in 2023, coincided with the launch of the short series. Now, with confirmation that they are different productions, fans can expect even more unprecedented content from the Lycoris Recoil universe . Imigimuru characters designer also expressed a desire to participate in the franchise's upcoming projects.
While the new anime is not enough, the animated short series opens on April 16, 2025 on the Aniplex YouTube channel, with English subtitles available thanks to Aniplex of America. In the trailer released, Chisato even shouts "Lycoris Recoil, the movie!", But soon is corrected by Takina, who warns: "It's a short film."
