The December issue of Houbunsha 's Manga Time Kirara Carat magazine revealed on Friday that Izumo Ito 's manga Machikado Mazoku (The Demon Girl Next Door) will go on hiatus until next year due to the author's health reasons.

Therefore, the manga did not appear in the magazine this month.

Izumo Ito has long suffered from an unspecified illness that has severely affected her immunity and vision, making it difficult for her to draw manga for extended periods. Her health has led to several previous hiatuses for the manga, including in November 2019 and November 2021.

Synopsis

Yuuko Yoshida, a 15-year-old girl, one morning awoke with demonic powers and was tasked with defeating the local magical girl. She possesses horns and a tail, yet is actually weaker than an ordinary girl. Yuuko struggles to afford the costs of the curse, which amount to 40,000 yen per month.

Ito launched the Machikado Mazoku manga in Manga Time Kirara Carat in September 2014. Houbunsha subsequently published the sixth volume of the manga in February 2021.

In addition, the manga inspired an anime adaptation that aired from July to September 2019.
