Kadokawa announced on Sunday that production on a sequel to the anime Made in Abyss: The Golden City of the Scorching Sun (Made in Abyss: Retsujitsu no Ogonkyo) has been greenlit.
The announcement came at a special event held for the anime.
Synopsis
A vast system of pits and caves called the "Abyss" is the only unexplored place in the world. Strange and incredible creatures reside within its depths, and it is filled with precious relics that humans have yet to create. The mysteries of the Abyss fascinate everyone, and they begin to explore it. Those who venture into the place are known as "Cave Raiders." A small orphan girl named Riko lives in the city of Ousu on the edge of the Abyss. Her dream is to become a Cave Raider like her mother and solve the mysteries of the pit system. One day, Riko begins exploring the caves and discovers a robot that resembles a human boy.
The anime was the second season based on the manga Made in Abyss by Akihito Tsukushi .
