Magic: The Gathering crossover with Final Fantasy has finally received its first update. Although the cards won't be released for another few months, we already have an exciting preview of what's to come.

In a special video, Shoichi Ichikawa Magic product architect , shared some information with fans. Iconic characters such as Lightning, Tidus, Yuna, and Sephiroth were shown, suggesting a high-level collaboration.

Other games in the Final Fantasy franchise are getting released

Ichikawa confirmed that the release will include all numbered games in the Final Fantasy franchise, although it may leave out some spin-offs. Furthermore, characters like Terra, Noctis, and Cloud Strife are also confirmed, along with legendary creatures, powerful weapons, and, of course, the beloved Chocobos.

According to Gordon, this will be the largest collection of Final Fantasy ever seen in a single game, featuring illustrations from Magic and the franchise itself, as well as new collaborations. Among the artists involved are Joseph Weston, Wanjie Li, Yuu Fujiki, and Néstor Ossandón Leal.

Although much information is still lacking, classic Final Fantasy like Spira and Gaia promise to enrich the player's experience with breathtaking scenery and exciting stories.

Expectations for the release of Magic: The Gathering with Final Fantasy

The release of Magic: The Gathering x Final Fantasy is scheduled for June 2025, and promises to be one of the biggest releases in the Universes Beyond , which has already brought crossovers with The Lord of the Rings , Doctor Who , and Warhammer 40,000 .
