Magic: The Gathering Reveals New Crossover with Final Fantasy

The long-awaited crossover between Magic: The Gathering and Final Fantasy has finally received its first news. Although the cards won't be released for a few months, we already have an exciting preview of what's to come.

In a special video, Square Enix producer Shoichi Ichikawa Magic shared some information with fans. Iconic characters like Lightning, Tidus, Yuna, and Sephiroth were shown, hinting at a high-profile collaboration.

Other games in the Final Fantasy franchise are released

Ichikawa confirmed that the release will include all numbered games in the Final Fantasy franchise, although it may leave out some spin-offs. Additionally, characters like Terra, Noctis and Cloud Strife are also confirmed, along with legendary creatures, powerful weapons and, of course, the beloved Chocobos.

Final Fantasy 9's Kefka Palazzo

According to Gordon, this will be the largest set of Final Fantasy ever seen in a single game, with illustrations from Magic and the franchise itself, as well as new collaborations. Among the artists involved are Joseph Weston, Wanjie Li, Yuu Fujiki and Néstor Ossandón Leal.

Final Fantasy locations such as Spira and Gaia promise to enrich the player's experience with breathtaking scenery and exciting stories.

Expectations for the release of Magic: The Gathering with Final Fantasy

The release of Magic: The Gathering x Final Fantasy is scheduled for June 2025, and promises to be one of the biggest releases in the Universes Beyond , which has already brought crossovers with The Lord of the Rings , Doctor Who and Warhammer 40,000 .
