new Madoka Magica film , a direct sequel to the 2013 film Rebellion, has been announced . According to the official website , the new film is in celebration of the franchise's 10th anniversary.
Therefore, the film is titled Gekijōban Mahō Shōjo Madoka Magica : Walpurgis no Kaiten ( Turning the Tide of Walpurgis ). The film’s tagline reads: “Now, let’s continue the story.”

Additionally, the entire team from the anime and other films returns, including the original creators, chief director Akiyuki Simbo , screenwriter Gen Urobuchi from Nitroplus, original character designer Ume Aoki and Junichirō Taniguchi , composer Y Kajiura , as well as animation studio Shaft .
The returning cast includes:
- Aoi Yūki as Madoka Kaname
- Chiwa Saito as Homura Akemi
- Kaori Mizuhashi as Mami Tomoe
- Eri Kitamura as Sayaka Miki
- Ai Nonaka as Kyōko Sakura
- Kana Asumi as Nagisa Momoe
- Emiri Katō as Kyubey
The event also revealed a new smartphone game Magia Record: Puella Magi Madoka Magica Side Story with a completely original story “Mahō Shōjo Madoka Magica scene0”. Additionally, a two-disc soundtrack from the franchise will be available on Monday worldwide on Spotify and Apple Music services.
Finally, an exhibition will debut in Tokyo at the end of September this year. The film does not yet have a release date in Japanese cinemas
