Japanese broadcaster NHK announced an anime adaptation of Aiko Koyama 's Maiko-san Chi no Makanai-san for February 2021.
Synopsis
In Kyoto's "hanamachi" geisha district, after the geisha finish their work late at night, they spend the night resting in a shop to prepare for the next day. The story centers on Kiyo, a 16-year-old girl. After failing to become a Maiko (apprentice geisha), she works as a food preparer for her group. This is the story of her daily life.
Kyoma also launched the manga Maiko-san Chi no Makanai-san in Shogakukan 's Weekly Shonen Sunday in December 2016, with 14 volumes to date. Furthermore, the manga won Shogakukan's 65th Best Shonen Manga in January 2020.
