Japanese television network NHK has announced an anime adaptation of Aiko Koyama 's Maiko-san Chi no Makanai-san scheduled for February 2021.
Synopsis
In Kyoto's geisha district, "hanamachi," after the geishas finish their work late at night, they spend the night resting in a shop to prepare for the next day. The story centers on Kiyo, a 16-year-old girl. After failing to become a Maiko (geisha apprentice), she works as a food preparer for her troupe. This is the story of her daily life.
Furthermore, Kyoma launched the manga Maiko-san Chi no Makanai-san in Shogakukan 's Weekly Shonen Sunday in December 2016, and it currently has 14 volumes. Additionally, the manga won the 65th Shogakukan Best Shonen Manga
