Japanese TV broadcaster NHK announced an anime adaptation of Aiko Koyama 's Maiko-san Chi no Makanai-san for February 2021.
Synopsis
In the “hanamachi” geisha district of Kyoto, after the geisha finish their work late at night, they spend the night resting in a shop to prepare for the next day. The story centers on Kiyo, a 16-year-old girl. After failing to become a Maiko (geisha apprentice), she works as a food preparer for her group. This is her daily life story.
Furthermore, Kyoma launched the Maiko-san Chi no Makanai-san manga in Shogakukan 's Weekly Shonen Sunday in December 2016, with 14 volumes to date. Furthermore, the manga won Shogakukan's 65th Best Shonen Manga in January 2020.
