Animation studio ufotable announced at an event in Japan that the Gakuen Utopia series Manabi Straight! will get a new adapted manga soon. The studio and Tartan Check debuted the first manga series in ASCII Media Works' Monthly and Comic Dengeki Daioh magazine in 2005.
The first manga from 2005 produced a series of 12 episodes in 2007. The story takes place in the year 2035 where schools have suffered due to the small number of children born, which has resulted in the closure of many of them. A totally outgoing girl named Amamiya Manami transfers to a new school where she easily becomes the student council president and begins to bring some vigor back into the students' lives.
