The 41st issue of Shogakukan 's Weekly Shonen Sunday revealed that the Call of the Night ( Yofukashi no Uta ) manga is going on a 1-week hiatus due to author Kotoyama .

The hiatus will only happen during one issue of the magazine, returning again in the 43rd issue on September 21st. The magazine clarified in a note that the manga will go on hiatus due to the author catching “that illness that is going around”, but that he had also already recovered.

The manga recently got an anime that premiered on July 7 and is still airing.

Synopsis

Kou Yamori looks like a typical high school student on the surface. Relatively good at studies and kind to his classmates, he goes to great lengths to maintain this facade. One day, however, he decides to stop pretending and drops out of school, developing insomnia due to not having a daytime outlet for his energy. When he goes for a walk alone at night, he feels a little better, although he knows that his inability to sleep should be considered a serious problem.

On one of these walks, Kou meets a strange girl, Nazuna Nanakusa, who diagnoses the cause of his insomnia: despite having made changes in his life, she continues to prevent him from experiencing true freedom. She tells him that he won't be able to sleep if he isn't satisfied with the way she is spending her waking hours. When it appears he has resolved his current concerns, Nazuna invites him to share her futon in her apartment. After a while, unaware that he is just pretending to be unconscious, she leans over him and bites his neck.

Kotoyama launched the Call of the Night manga in Weekly Shonen Sunday in August 2019. The anime adaptation is from the LIDENFILMS and is directed by Tomoyuki Itamura and written by Michiko Yokote.

The manga's story follows Kokonotsu, heir to a sweets shop in a rural area, but who dreams of becoming a mangaka.
