Mario Kart World brings open world and survival mode on switch 2

Nintendo introduced Mario Kart World as the first title of the main franchise for the new Switch 2 console. With launch scheduled for this year, the game breaks with the traditional formula and bets on an interactive open world and an unprecedented survival mode, with Battle Royale style races.

This is the first completely new title in the series for consoles in over ten years. Players can freely explore the map, access hidden clues, find secrets and participate in real -time races alone or with friends. The game also allows you to return to the classic track selection structure, but the highlight is the freedom of movement and the new scale of the virtual world.

Open and interactive structure changes the dynamics of the series

Inspired by games like Forza Horizon, Mario Kart World offers a real -time exploration experience. In addition, it is possible to drive through large environments, unlock secret clues, collect items and participate in various challenges. Visual elements were improved with greater detail and fluidity in animations, thus surpassing the already praised graphics of Mario Kart 8 Deluxe.

During the preview of the game, the developers revealed unpublished elements, such as Princess Peach thematic coins, hidden paths and unusual obstacles such as hostile clouds. Although the reward system is not yet fully clear, players will probably use items collected to unlock costumes, vehicles and cosmetic improvements.

Races with aircraft and boats and less customization

Mario Kart World also reformulates running mechanics. Instead of the gliders and submerged phases, there are excerpts disputed on aircraft and boats, referring to classics like Wave Race. The kart customization system has been reduced: the player chooses between ready -made models, although there is a wide variety of visual and functional unlockings.

The characters in the Mario series are all present, highlighting a surprise: Moo Moo Farm's cow is now playable. Corridors skins change during matches, activated by power-ups-many of them-inspired by food. Each skin also changes the character's attributes, giving depth to the strategy.

Survival mode brings competition with progressive elimination

The main innovation is the “Survivor” mode, which holds up to 24 players in a single environment. With each race, the last four places are eliminated and return to the open world. The dispute continues until only four runners remain in the final. The format adds tension and unpredictability, making each proof a strategic challenge.

The system resembles that of games like F-Zero 99, with eliminatory rounds that test reflexes and tactical choices. Even those who start well can be surprised by errors or traps on the way. The result is a more aggressive, chaotic and engaging way that promises to attract both streamers and casual players.

High price generates questions

Despite the innovations, the amount charged drew attention. The digital version costs ¥ 8,980 (about $ 330), and physics, ¥ 9,980 (about $ 370). The game does not include expansion passes or nintendo online service signature. The edition that accompanies the console costs about $ 150, being seen as a more affordable alternative.

Still, Mario Kart World emerges as one of Switch 2's top releases. With new modes, an expansive world and renewed graphics, the title has the potential to repeat the success of Mario Kart 8 Deluxe, currently the best selling on the previous platform. The debut marks not only a new phase of the franchise, but also a new way to play Mario Kart.
