According to sources at Toho, it has been revealed that the next film from the famous Studio Ghibli will be an adaptation of the novel " Omoide no Marnie " (When Marnie Was There) by writer Joan G. Robinson.
The story follows young Anna, a lonely girl with no friends, who, while traveling to the small village of Norfolk , meets a mysterious young woman named Marnie. The two become great friends, but there's something about Marnie connected to Anna's story that Anna herself is unaware of.
The new film is scheduled to premiere in Japan this summer and will be directed by Hiromasa Yonebayashi (The Secret World of Arrietty).
