Marvel has confirmed that it is ending the Venom with issue #42, which comes out in the US in October. The cancellation had been speculated for some days, as the comic did not appear in the publisher's reviews for November. These last issues introduced the female version of Venom, called "Mania". In an interview with CBR, writer Cullen Bunn says these comics tell her origin story – "but maybe she won't survive her own origin," says Bunn. Despite the cancellation, Venom has a confirmed participation in the "Darkest Hours" story arc, which will occupy the Superior Spider-Man in November.
