NetEase has confirmed that Marvel Rivals will receive new heroes every six weeks, with updates divided into two parts per season. The statement was made by the game's director, Guangyun Chen, during the launch of Season 1: Eternal Night Falls , which recently debuted with a vampire theme and the arrival of the Fantastic Four .

The season brought the Invisible Woman and Mr. Fantastic in the first phase, and also includes the Human Torch and the Thing in the second. In addition, players gained access to three new maps, special events, and a new game mode called Doom Match . The update also introduced a Battle Pass with exclusive rewards, such as themed costumes and emotes.

Community drives growth and new additions in Marvel Rivals

Chen highlighted that the choice of heroes is guided by the theme of each season and by community feedback. According to him, future seasons will take into account player suggestions to maintain high engagement. At launch, the game already features 15 characters divided into two main types: Vanguards and Strategists , offering variety for strategic compositions.

With the start of Season 1, Marvel Rivals reached a peak of 644,269 concurrent players on Steam on January 11th, placing it as the 14th highest number ever recorded on the platform.

Frequent updates promise to keep players active

Each season will last three months, divided into two parts. NetEase's strategy is to release heroes regularly to encourage the creation of new tactics and explore the potential of different classes, such as Duelists , which are expanding in the game.

In addition to the new gameplay features, the company plans to offer seasonal content to keep the community engaged. The Season 1 Battle Pass, for example, includes the possibility of recouping part of the investment with the game's virtual currency, which should attract even more players throughout the updates.

With an engaged user base and impressive record numbers, Marvel Rivals shows that the continuous service model can guarantee longevity and innovation for the Marvel gaming universe.
