The new extra chapter of the Spy x Family manga reveals never-before-seen details about the personal life of Matthew McMahon, a character known for his work as an assassin. The chapter takes place during Princess Lorelei's mission and shows McMahon in intimate moments with his wife, Maureen, before and after the mission. The publication delves deeper into the relationship between the agent and his family, revealing a more human side of the character.

Chapter shows mission preparation and family care

The story begins months before the mission. At home, McMahon cares for his pet bird while being reprimanded by Maureen for allegedly doing nothing. He responds that he's already finished his chores and, upon receiving lunch prepared by her, heads off to work.

During work, her colleague Dominic notices the exquisite meal and comments on Maureen's culinary skills. The conversation also mentions other supporting characters in the story, such as Camilla and Millie Myers, who are jealous of McMahon's attention.

Concern for home guides decisions before departure

Knowing his wife wouldn't be able to feed the bird properly, McMahon takes the time to prepare Keekee's food before leaving. Maureen, though reluctant, accepts the task on the condition that she receive souvenirs from the trip. The couple's agreement reveals a relationship marked by affection and negotiation, even amidst a routine of constant danger.

The character's concern about fulfilling his promise is so great that he spends the night thinking about the souvenirs. This passage underscores the desire to survive not only for the mission, but also for the hope of returning home and keeping his word.

Mission is skipped and focus falls on the couple's reunion

After a time jump, McMahon returns from work and declines a dinner invitation, preferring to go straight home. Maureen surprises him with a bandage on her face and asks him to retire. The killer, however, affirms that he will continue as long as necessary, revealing the sense of duty he balances with his married life.

However, despite her reluctance, Maureen welcomes her husband with dinner. The couple shares a tender moment at the table, ending the chapter with McMahon praising the food and being pressed by his wife for the promised gifts.
