Nintendo Switch 2 will be launched on June 5, 2025 and promises to transform the brand's portable experience with technical improvements, new design and a series of unpublished features. The screen now measures 7.9 inches, surpassing previous models in size and quality, with HDR technology and 120 fps support in portable mode. Already in TV mode, the console reaches 4K resolution with 60 FPS, thanks to the new dock with optimized performance.
Graphic performance, however, is only part of the advance. The console now has 256 GB of internal storage - eight times more than the original switch - and faster processing, favoring lower loading times and fluidity in the games.
The base also received a cooler, which improves ventilation in extended sessions. The rear bracket of the device has been redesigned and allows the screen angle adjustment, facilitating table mode use.
Nintendo redesigned Switch 2 Joy-Con. The brand increased the size of the controls and improved comfort in use. Now players can use them as a mouse, a feature designed for shooting games and strategy.
The company also adopted magnetic connection on the sides of the console, which ensures firmer fit. In addition, it included the "chat" button on the controls, allowing you to talk by voice and share the screen with friends - function available only for those who signs Nintendo Switch online.
New accessories expand interaction and connectivity options
The Nintendo Switch 2 also bets on a social and interactive experience. Nintendo has included an official camera on Switch 2. Players will use the accessory for video calls, live broadcasts and games with facial recognition. The company will sell the camera separately, as well as the new Pro Controller, which features ergonomic layout and more accurate commands.
Among the new features is the game share, which allows players to share a single game between multiple consoles locally. Thus, one of the users has the game so that others participate in the match, without the need for multiple copies. To take advantage of real -time communication with the chat button and share the screen during the game, you will need to maintain an active account in the Nintendo Switch online service.
Nintendo has updated Switch 2 MIIS. Avatars exhibit more realistic traits, with expanded facial customization options and refined animations. In addition, the company also added GameCube games to the Digital Library, within the new Switch 2 exclusive category on Nintendo Switch Online.
Launching titles include Mario Kart World and reworked classics
The Nintendo Switch 2 debut will be accompanied by a varied list of titles. The main release is Mario Kart World, new edition of Nintendo's race franchise.
In addition to it will be available games like Split Fiction, Hogwarts Legacy, Hitman, Bravely Default HD, Yakuza 0 and Cyberpunk 2077. However, in 2025, the console will receive productions such as Hyrule Warriors: Impression, Elden Ring, Hades 2, Tony Hawk Pro Skater 3+4 and Hollow Knight: Silksong.
More titles will be revealed during the Nintendo Treehouse event, scheduled for April 3 and 4. Thus, the list of games is expected to grow with unpublished productions and successful relaunches adapted to the new console capabilities.
In addition to the new games, several original Nintendo Switch titles will receive graphic upgrade and new modes on Switch 2. Zelda's enhanced versions are confirmed: Tears of the Kingdom, Super Mario Jamboree, Metroid Prime 4 and Pokémon: Legends Za. These upgrades will require additional payment, but will allow you to take advantage of the graphic improvements and features of the new hardware.
Retropatibility guarantees soft transition to original switch owners
Retropatibility with Nintendo Switch games is one of the great advantages of the new console. Users will be able to migrate your digital library to Switch 2 without repurchase. The company promises full compatibility, including physical and digital games, as well as integration with existing Nintendo accounts.
The Nintendo Switch online structure will also be expanded. There will be an exclusive new section for Switch 2, with optimized games, expanded social features and access to the classic GameCube library. These contents require active service signature.
In Brazil, the price still depends on taxation, but the value of the console will be US $ 449. In Brazil, it should arrive around R $ 4,500. However, Nintendo will sell the camera and professional control separately, but has not yet confirmed the prices of accessories. Even so, the set of technical innovations, new games and unpublished features puts Switch 2 as one of the most relevant releases of the year in the game market.
