The July issue of Tokuma Shoten's Monthly Comic Zenon magazine announced on May 25 that manga will end in two more chapters. Unless there are any breaks, the manga is expected to end in July.
The manga began its final arc, Mononoke: Bakeneko, in March 2018 and the first of 2 volumes was released on December 20, 2018.
The 2007 Mononoke anime is a spinoff of the Ayakashi – Samurai Horror Tales anime. Specifically, it follows the medicine seller "Bakeneko" from the Goblin Cat arc. The anime has five arcs, the last of which is titled "Bakeneko."
The original manga adaptation by Ninagawa, which Square Enix published in two compiled volumes in 2008, also followed the anime's "Bakeneko" arc.
Ninagawa went on to draw manga adaptations for the other four anime arcs, which Tokuma Shoten published instead of Square Enix. Tokuma Shoten published the most recent arc, Mononoke: Nopperabo (Faceless Monster), in a compiled volume in November 2017.
