The official website for the Mononoke movie has revealed a new teaser and visual for the film. The trailer reveals the film's staff, the projected release date of summer 2024, and Hiroshi Kamiya as the new voice of the protagonist, the Medicine Salesman.

The film was scheduled for release this year, but it has been postponed. Along with the postponement announcement in February, the film's team also announced that Takahiro Sakurai will no longer reprise his role as the Medicine Salesman as originally planned.
Twin Engine stated in a press release:
The film “MONONOKE” is set in Ōoku (historically the women's quarters of Edo Castle) and attempts to portray the suffering and healing of women. Considering the story's perspective, we decided to change the cast of the Medicine Seller.
As previously announced, Kenji Nakamura will return to direct the Mononoke film, produced by Twin Engine. New team members include:

The anime Mononoke premiered in 2007 and aired for 12 episodes. The series is a spinoff of the anime Ayakashi – Samurai Horror Tales. Specifically, it follows the medicine seller from the "Bakeneko" (Goblin Cat) arc. The Mononoke anime has five arcs, the last of which is titled "Bakeneko".
