Moon Knight is stronger than expected in Marvel Rivals

The Marvel Rivals character Moon Knight is dealing more damage than expected with his ultimate ability. A possible bug or error in the ability's description is causing the attack to have a greater range and hit opponents beyond the officially indicated area.

The ability's range is greater than stated

According to the official description of Marvel Rivals, Moon Knight's ultimate attack launches three claws, each dealing 75 damage within a five-meter radius. However, player testing has shown that the actual area of effect is larger.

Reddit user Sidewaysgts posted a video demonstrating that the attack has two areas of effect: an initial five-meter area and an additional area that expands the range to ten meters. Furthermore, within the smaller area, each claw deals 150 damage, double the stated amount.

In a test with the Galacta Bots, which have 225 hit points, it only took two attacks to destroy them. Based on the damage described in the game, three hits would be necessary.

Surprise effect and impact on gameplay

The unexpected mechanics make Moon Knight more lethal than anticipated. His final attack hits three points within the area of effect, potentially eliminating enemies quickly. In Sidewaysgts' video, a 150-damage hit strikes a robot directly, followed by another attack that eliminates it from ten meters away.

Therefore, if the ability only had a range of five meters, as the description states, the second hit wouldn't connect with the enemy, allowing them to retreat or heal. This is why Moon Knight can defeat resilient characters like Venom with just two or three attacks.

Bug or intentional feature of Marvel Rivals?

There is still no confirmation from the developer NetEase regarding the issue. If it's a bug, the developer may fix it in an update. However, if it's intentional, they need to clarify the difference between the description and the actual effect.

Despite his unexpected strength, Moon Knight doesn't dominate the game. His win rate is 47%, with an 8% pick rate, placing him behind other Duelists. Even so, his performance is better than that of Tempest, a character who has received constant criticism from the community.
