The first trailer for the film Knights of Sidonia: Love Woven in the Stars ( Sidonia no Kishi: Ai Tsumugu Hoshi ) has been released. According to the official website, the film hits theaters in Japan on May 14th.

According to author Tsutomu Nihei , this new film will follow a different path from the manga and feature a new story. The film will feature a returning cast.
Nihei and Seshita previously discussed the possibility of a third season for the anime in 2016. Nihei said, " I'm also hoping for Sidonia 3! But I'm not the one making it or getting funding for it . So it's okay..." and pointed to Seshita.
Finally, the first season of the anime had 12 episodes and premiered in Japan in April 2014. The second season arrived with 12 episodes, titled Knights of Sidonia: Battle for Planet Nine, premiered in April 2015. Netflix streamed both seasons.
