Netflix revealed on Thursday, 12, a video and two visuals for the new Stop -Motion animation , My Melody & Kuromi Sanrio 's original characters . The series opens July 24 , 2025.

The video also reveals that K-Pop's group, Le Sserafim will sing the opening theme song, called “Kawaii (Prod. Gen Hoshino)” . The series will have a total of 12 episodes , with each episode lasting about 13 minutes. See the full trailer below:
This year, 2025, marks the 50th anniversary of the character My Melody and the 20th anniversary of Kuromi. Two visuals were released to celebrate the release of the animation. See both below.
The production responsible for the series is Wit Studio (Spy x Family). Tomoki Misato (Stop-Motion Pui Pui Molcar television series) is driving the animation and Shūko Nemoto is writing the scripts.
Synopsis My Melody & Kuromi
My Melody opens a confectionery in Mariland. After finding a heart in the forest, strange things begin to happen around you. Meanwhile, the Kuromi Japanese candy store across the street is always empty. Kuromi looks for the secret of My Melody's cakes. My Melody and Kuromi work hard to prepare for a candy making contest judged by the world famous confectioner chef Pistachio. However, no one knows this will lead to an incident that threatens Mariland's fate.

Entertainment company Sanrio, creator of iconic Hello Kitty , continues to expand its catalog of animations with new productions from the My Melody . The brand, which debuted the anime “OneGai My Melody” in 2005, has been consistently developing the character's universe over the years.
The original series “OneGai My Melody” generated several sequences, including:
- "OneGai My Melody - Kuru Kuru Shuffle!" (2006);
- “OneGai My Melody Sukkiri” (2007);
- “OneGai My Melody Kirara” (2008).
The franchise's first movie, “OneGai My Melody Yū & Ai”, hit Japanese theaters in 2012, marking the character's debut in the feature film format.
Recently, Sanrio has invested in digital for the franchise. In February 2023, he released the short series “Kuromi's Pretty Journey”, making the first three episodes simultaneously on YouTube and Tiktok . The production followed a weekly launch schedule, totaling 21 episodes.
On October 31st, the sequence titled “Kuromi's Pretty Journey ~ Hachamecha! Multiverse dashutsu! ~” , With simultaneous launch in Japanese and English versions on Youtube.
