During AnimeJapan 2025 MyAnimeList CEO Atsushi Mizoguchi revealed unprecedented data on the demographics of popular anime fans. According to the statistics, Re:ZERO – Starting Life in Another World has a predominantly male fanbase: a staggering 87.6% of the audience is male, compared to just 10.9% female and 1.5% non-binary.
- Fans of The Beginning After the End are calling for the anime to be cancelled.
- To Be Hero X Ep. 2: The Relationship Between Nice and Xiao Yueqing
Age range also stands out on MyAnimeList : almost 50% of fans are between 16 and 24 years old, while 42% are between 25 and 34 years old. Only 5.5% are between 35 and 44 years old. Data from the partnership with GEM Partners reinforces the idea that young male audiences still dominate certain isekai and action titles.
The team also analyzed other anime, such as From Bureaucrat to Villainess: Dad's Been Reincarnated!, which had a slightly more balanced audience (74.2% male), and Zenshu, which had a similar split. However, Mizoguchi explained that the platform has over 19.5 million users—99% of whom are outside Japan and about 90% are under 34.
This information is part of a new interactive dashboard that MyAnimeList is developing with GEM Partners . The goal is to provide companies with detailed data on audience behavior, helping them create more effective marketing strategies.
