Naze Ikiru: Rennyo Shounin to Yoshizaki Enjou is a film based on the Japanese bestseller Naze Ikiru by Kentetsu Takamori , which was released in 2001 and sold over 1 million copies. Here it was called Why We Live, published by Editora Satry. In 1992 to 1993, an original anime series was produced by AIC with 6 episodes about the life of the monk Shinran called Sekai no Hikari: Shinran Seijin .
The film is set to premiere on May 21. The cast includes Kotaro Satomi from Agatha Christie's The Greatest Poem to Marple voicing Rennyo in his first anime role, Katsuyuki Konishi as Ryoken, Hideyuki Tanaka , Ayumi Fujimura , and Takaaki Seki .
The film tells the story of Ryouken, who has lost everything and feels desperate. Until he meets the high priest Rennyo and decides to become his apprentice, but they are forced to flee Kyoto after becoming targets of other sects.
