In November 2021, it was confirmed that Iñaki Godoy would play Monkey D. Luffy in the live-action adaptation. The announcement was made through a series of “wanted posters” showing the actors who will play the main cast of the series, including Godoy himself.
Additionally, other cast members include Mackenyu as Zoro, Taz Skylar as Sanji, Emily Rudd as Nami, and Jacob Romero Gibson as Usopp.
This is not the first time that Godoy has met with the Straw Hat captain. Just three weeks ago, Godoy had the honor of meeting Mayumi Tanaka, the voice actress for Luffy himself.
Finally, the live-action adaptation of One Piece will make its debut on Netflix on August 31st. What did you think of Luffy being featured on the cover of Shonen Jump?
