Netflix has heard fans and has prepared important changes for Season 2 of the Devil May Cry anime , and fans can expect something very different . As revealed Adi Shankar , producer of the series and also known for his work in Castlevania , the new episode wave will be "essentially a new series."
Vergil assumes lead role in Devil May Cry
Previously focused on Dante , the narrative will now make Vergil , brother of the protagonist more prominence. As Shankar himself explained to Esquire , this change will allow us to explore new ways and expand the Capcom franchise universe. " The first season was just the gateway, but the second changes everything " he said.
This reformulation is not limited to the plot: the visual style and tone of the series will also undergo striking changes. Thus, production will seek a new identity to move away from the standard of conventional anime.
New identity and high ambitions
Shankar states that Devil May Cry is inspired by western classics like X-Men , Batman: The Animated Series and Gargoyles , trying to relive the spirit of Saturday cartoon. However, he points out that there is now creative freedom to bring these ideas beyond what was possible on open TV. However, the producer does not hide his ambition: " I want to overcome Arcane " he said, referring to the acclaimed Riot Games series on Netflix. "I want to appear with a water balloon in a tann war and win ," he joked.
Finally, the animation premiered on April 3, 2025 in the Netflix , animated through Mir studio.
