A recent Google report revealed global interest in the anime and manga known as Netorare (NTR) in 2024. The research is based on the volume of searches for the term “NTR” on the platform in the last twelve months. Although the study covers all countries in the world, here we focus on results from Latin America , where the genre caught the attention of many users.
The Latin American countries that appeared in Netorare's global ranking in 2024 are the following:
Bolivia (10); Peru (15); Mexico (16); Ecuador (19); Guatemala (21); Chile (22); Argentina (24); Venezuela (25); Colombia (32); Brazil (34).
Bolivia Latin America, ranking tenth in the world, indicating a strong interest in the genre. Countries such as Peru, Mexico and Ecuador also appear in the top 20. Even Brazil, which occupies the lowest position in the region, is still among the top 40 in the world.
What is Netorare (NTR)?
Netorare (NTR) is a subgenre of fiction, popular in anime, manga and h3ntai genre games, that explores themes of infidelity and loss of a beloved partner. Generally, the plot involves betrayal and intense feelings of impotence and jealousy. Despite being controversial, NTR won fans for exploring the emotional limits of relationships.
It is therefore interesting to see how this type of content has found a significant audience in Latin America in 2024, a region with strong traditional values about loyalty. However, the increasing accessibility and popularity of anime and manga has allowed genres like NTR to find their space.
