Yukito Kishiro, the creator of the manga GUNNM, better known as "Battle Angel Alita," announced on his blog that he will begin a new series in the second half of 2014. The series has a provisional title of Kasei Senki (The Martian War Chronicles). The author is also planning to publish an art book related to the manga.
It's worth noting that the second issue of Kodansha's Evening-2014 magazine announced that the manga Battle Angel Alita Kishiro: Last Order (GUNNM: Last Order) will end in its next chapter on January 28th.
The original manga story unfolds in a post-apocalyptic, Mad Max-style setting where a city called Zalem floats in the sky and cyborgs and humans coexist. In this context, cybernetic engineer Daisuke Ido finds the torso of an inert cyborg in the Scraptown junkyard, located beneath Zalem, and takes it to his workshop where he reactivates it.
