During the Gamescom 2013 event, the game Lightning Returns: Final Fantasy XIII received a new trailer that shows the protagonist meeting new and old characters from the series.

In Lightning Returns , the main character must save the world in just 13 days, featuring revamped mechanics and a vast environment for exploration. The game will be released in the US on February 11, 2014, for Xbox 360 and PlayStation 3.
