After 13 years without news, the Ninja Gaiden is back. Koei Tecmo announced Ninja Gaiden 4 during the Xbox Developer Direct , confirming a fall 2025 release. The new adventure takes place years after Ninja Gaiden 3 and features a new protagonist, Yakumo, a ninja master with impressive skills. However, fans of the franchise can rest assured: Ryu Hayabusa takes on a playable role at various points in the campaign.
Fast gameplay and new mechanics in Ninja Gaiden 4
Among the new features of Ninja Gaiden 4 , high-speed movement elements stand out, such as sections on rails and the use of a tentacle-like appendage for agile movement. Additionally, the trailer revealed stylized combat, cinematic assassinations, and character design that nods to Bayonetta .
The gameplay promises to maintain the adrenaline rush characteristic of the series, with acrobatics, quick strikes and intense action sequences. Thus, the mix of Team Ninja's experience with Platinum Games suggests a refined and fluid combat system, combining the best of both studios.

Release and platforms confirmed
Ninja Gaiden 4 will be released for Xbox Series X|S , PlayStation 5 and PC . In the Xbox ecosystem, the game will be available on Game Pass from day one and will support Play Anywhere. Thus, allowing you to play on both console and PC with shared progression. In addition to the announcement of the new title, Koei Tecmo also revealed a remaster of Ninja Gaiden 2 , called Ninja Gaiden 2 Black , which is now available on Xbox and Game Pass.
