Accessory manufacturer Genki admitted to creating the Nintendo Switch 2 products showcased at CES 2025 based on leaks, without access to the console's official design. However, a company representative explained to Game*Spark that it even developed the prototype console used as a reference based on unconfirmed information.
Thus, despite displaying a full line of accessories, Genki emphasized that it has not received any official data from Nintendo and cannot guarantee that the products will be compatible with the Switch's successor. "Only Nintendo can say whether the accessories will be compatible with the Switch 2 ," the company stated.
Nintendo denies connection with accessories
Just hours after Genki's presentation, Nintendo issued a statement denying any involvement with the accessories. In a response published by CNET, the Japanese giant reinforced that the hardware displayed by the manufacturer is not related to the new console. "The gaming hardware Genki presented at CES and claims to be Nintendo's next model is unofficial and was not provided by Nintendo ," a spokesperson stated.
This statement marks another chapter in the rumors surrounding the Nintendo Switch 2. Despite growing anticipation surrounding its launch, Nintendo has yet to officially reveal details about the console, fueling speculation and leaks.
What is known about the Switch 2
Nintendo hasn't released official details yet, but previous reports already suggest that the Nintendo Switch 2 will be larger than the current model. The screen, for example, is expected to be 8 inches, up from the standard 6.2-inch display and the 7-inch OLED version. Even so, the new console would be more compact than the Steam Deck, one of the main competitors in the portable market.
In terms of performance, rumors suggest the Switch 2 will support DLSS (Deep Learning Super Sampling), an NVIDIA technology for enhanced graphics. This would ensure higher resolution, higher frame rates, and graphical quality close to consoles like the Xbox Series X and PlayStation 5. There's also speculation the console will be able to play games from both platforms, expanding its market appeal.
