Details of Nintendo's next-generation console, the highly anticipated "Nintendo Switch 2," have been revealed earlier than expected. Accessory manufacturer Dbrand has released information about the device's design and dimensions, confirming rumors and generating anticipation among fans. The leak occurred via an ad on the company's website, accompanied by images of a case designed for the new device.

The Switch 2's dimensions, released by Dbrand CEO Adam Ijaz, show that it will be larger than the Switch OLED. The new model will be 270 mm wide, 116 mm tall, and 14 mm thick, while the console itself will be around 200 mm wide. For comparison, the Switch OLED measures 242 mm x 102 mm x 13.9 mm. These changes indicate that Nintendo is investing in a larger screen and ergonomic design improvements.

Redesigned design and new technical details for Nintendo Switch 2

In addition to the increased size, the Switch 2 will feature an 8-inch screen and a more robust 55mm stand. The Joy-Cons, the console's detachable controllers, will have a magnetic attachment system with an eject button on the back. This detail promises to make handling easier and offer greater safety.

Another notable feature was the addition of an additional button on the Joy-Cons, identified by the letter "C." Its function is unclear, but speculation suggests it could replace the current model's capture button or have a new functionality. Dbrand also highlighted that its design includes more pronounced curves on the controls, prioritizing ergonomics.

The premature announcement sparked speculation about Nintendo's strategy for introducing the console. According to sources close to the market, such as The Verge and Insider Gaming, they indicate that the official announcement of the Switch 2 is expected to take place in January 2024, with a launch scheduled for a few months later.

Thus, the leak confirms the attention to detail in the Switch 2's development, including technical and aesthetic tweaks aimed at improving the player experience. It remains to be seen how Nintendo will react to these leaks and what surprises are yet to come.
