With just over a month to go until the April Nintendo Direct, new information about the Nintendo Switch 2 continues to circulate. According to recent leaks, Nintendo's new console is expected to feature significant improvements in performance and image quality. One of the highlights would be the LCD screen with a 120Hz refresh rate, support for HDR (high dynamic range) and VRR (variable refresh rate). This would represent a significant improvement over the current generation.

The information was released on the Famiboards forum by a user known as Secretboy. He gained notoriety by correctly anticipating the device's technical specifications before its official unveiling in January. Now, he claims that the Switch 2 will offer a smoother and more visually appealing experience, especially in handheld mode, thanks to VRR support and a high refresh rate display. These features help minimize frame rate drops and make gameplay more stable and responsive.

Technical details indicate improvements in portable and docked mode

According to the leak, the console should deliver around 3 TFLOPS of graphics performance when docked, while in portable mode, it's expected to deliver between 1.4 and 1.5 TFLOPS. The difference between modes reinforces Nintendo's commitment to consistent performance even when not docked. This represents a technical challenge for hybrid consoles. If confirmed, these specifications would place the new device above the current model, bringing it closer to competing platforms released in recent years.

Furthermore, previous speculation suggested the inclusion of DLSS technology, an NVIDIA system that uses artificial intelligence to improve game resolution without compromising performance. Although Nintendo has not yet confirmed the presence of DLSS, a patent filed by the company points to the development of a similar technology focused on optimizing graphics processing. The practical application of this feature could be crucial for maintaining visual quality in more demanding titles, even on portable hardware.

Nintendo Switch 2 price and release date remain unofficially confirmed

Despite growing anticipation, Nintendo has yet to officially reveal the full specifications of the new Switch. The event scheduled for April 2nd, during Nintendo Direct, is expected to be the stage for the console's final presentation. Market analysts indicate that the device's starting price should be around US$400, equivalent to approximately R$2,280 at the current exchange rate, excluding taxes and import duties. If this price is confirmed, Nintendo will adopt a price range similar to that of its competitors, suggesting a more aggressive push into the global market.

Until then, the information released remains in the realm of rumor. However, the reputation of sources like Secretboy, combined with patent filings and recent company moves, indicates that the Nintendo Switch 2 could represent a significant technical leap. The focus on image quality, performance stability, and the use of resources in handheld mode points to a strategic repositioning by Nintendo, which seeks to maintain its hybrid approach without sacrificing a modern and competitive experience.
