One Piece creator Eiichiro Oda confirmed in a statement that some characters from his manga will not be present in the live-action version. Many East Blue first season, but it appears some had to be dropped.

Luffy 's voice actress in the Japanese version, Mayumi Tanaka , shared this letter from Eiichiro Oda during the One Piece Day 2023 event. Additionally, the official Netflix also shared the letter to update fans. According to his statement, Oda says he's aware that fans will complain that some character or scene is missing from this adaptation. However, he and the Netflix team will be open to receiving all criticism because he believes the series is very faithful to the manga.

Finally, the main cast of the series includes Iñaki Godoy as Luffy, Mackenyu Arata as Zoro, Jacob Gibson as Usopp, Taz Skylar as Sanji, and Emily Rudd as Nami. The series premieres on August 31st on Netflix.

Synopsis:

The story revolves around Monkey D. Luffy, a young man who gained a rubber body after eating the magical Gomu Gomu no Mi (the Rubber Fruit). Inspired by his childhood idol, the powerful pirate Red-Haired Shanks, he becomes a pirate and sets sail across the sea to find the mythical treasure, the One Piece, and proclaim himself the Pirate King.
