One Piece anime is preparing a remastered version of the Fish-Man Island Saga with the same director as Gear 5. The break in adapting the Egghead Island brought the opportunity for Toei Animation to revisit this iconic saga, which will be reduced from 58 for 21 episodes, now with improved animation and remastered soundtrack.
The story reintroduces the Straw Hat crew after two years apart as they head to the New World. On the way, they need to pass through Fish-Man Island, located thousands of meters below sea level, where they will face new challenges.

However, during a One Piece organized by Toei in France, Twitter fan Moumai shared information about the remake. He reported that the session was attended by directors Tatsuya Nagamine and Kenji Yokoyama . Nagamine, known for directing episode 1071, where Luffy revealed Gear 5 , commented on his dedication to the first episodes of the new version of the saga.
In Nagamine's words:
I dedicate myself every night to After Effects, adding precise details and elements. I think, 'Why am I doing this?' but I want it to be perfect! I worked until 6am before my flight to France, still tweaking small details.
