One Piece – Manga will be on break for 4 weeks

The official website for Eiichiro Oda's 'One Piece' manga announced on Tuesday (06) that the manga will go on hiatus for four weeks (from June 19 to July 10) from this year's 29th edition to the 32nd edition of this year. Shonen Jump magazine, due to Oda having surgery for astigmatism scheduled.

Therefore, the manga will return in its 33rd edition on July 18th. The manga will still be shown in the 28th edition next week on June 12th.

Additionally, Oda added that astigmatism has made his vision blurry and is affecting his work. He decided to have the surgery after discussing it with his editor last year.

The author began serializing the One Piece manga in Shueisha's Shonen Jump magazine on July 19, 1997, and it has been running ever since.

Synopsis

The story therefore revolves around Monkey D. Luffy, a young man who gained a body made of rubber after eating the magical fruit Gomu Gomu no Mi (the Rubber Fruit). He was inspired by his childhood idol, the powerful pirate Shanks the Red, to become a pirate and sail on a journey across the sea to find the mythical treasure, the One Piece, and proclaim himself the Pirate King.
