Netflix 's official profile released some videos of Iñaki Godoy's trip to Japan. We saw the actor visiting Shueisha and meeting the original voice of Luffy, Mayumi Tanaka . However, Netflix took it a step further in the next stop on the trip, taking Godoy to meet Oda.
The creator of One Piece is known for not appearing in person for interviews, but it seems he made an exception to meet the actor who plays Luffy. While Godoy says he's honored by this opportunity, Oda emphasizes that he was the perfect choice for the lead role from the start.
Finally, the main cast of the series includes Iñaki Godoy as Luffy, Mackenyu Arata as Zoro, Jacob Gibson as Usopp, Taz Skylar as Sanji, and Emily Rudd as Nami. The series will premiere on August 31st on Netflix.
Synopsis:
The story revolves around Monkey D. Luffy, a young man who gained a body made of rubber after eating the magical Gomu Gomu no Mi (Rubber Fruit). Inspired by his childhood idol, the powerful pirate Shanks the Red-Haired, Luffy decided to become a pirate and sail the seas to find the mythical treasure, the One Piece, and proclaim himself the King of the Pirates.
