The first 2016 issue of Shonen Jump magazine reveals that the new One Piece will arrive on July 23, 2016, titled "One Piece Film Gold." Original manga creator Eiichiro Oda will serve as the film's executive producer. Oda also served as executive producer on the previous film in the franchise, One Piece Film Z.

The first round of pre-sale tickets for the film will go on sale on December 18 in Japan.

The film was announced in August of that year, while the last film in the Luffy and company saga was One Piece Film Z, which arrived in Japan in December 2012.
