The animated series One Piece will get a remake scheduled for February 2027. Netflix confirmed that the remake, produced by Wit Studio, will premiere worldwide with seven episodes, totaling approximately 300 minutes.
- One Piece 1182: Imu Defeats Loki and Changes the Course of the War
- One Piece Episode 1161: Luffy Meets Loki in Elbaph
This first season will adapt the initial 50 chapters of Eiichiro Oda. The aim is to tell the East Blue saga at a more direct pace, reducing lengthy sections and focusing on the main narrative, something that had already been requested by the audience.
Production team for the One Piece remake
Masashi Koizuka, known for Attack on Titan, is directing, with Hideaki Abe as assistant director. Taku Kishimoto is writing the script, while experienced names like Kyoji Asano and Takatoshi Honda are handling character design and animation supervision.

Furthermore, the team brings together professionals who worked on titles such as Spy x Family and The First Slam Dunk. The idea is to maintain a high visual level, with special attention to action scenes and setting, reinforcing the studio's modern style.
New approach and changes in anime
According to George Wada, president of the studio, the remake seeks a balance between fidelity and modernization. The production aims to respect the classic Toei Animation version, but with a more streamlined and cinematic execution.
Meanwhile, the current anime will undergo schedule changes starting in 2026, with fewer episodes per year. The strategy aims to better align the pacing with the manga and improve the overall quality of the adaptation.
The remake was originally announced during Jump Festa 2024, celebrating the franchise's 25th anniversary. Now, with a set date, the project positions itself as a new entry point for those who want to follow the story from the beginning.
