As seen in the trailer, the transformation should occur in episode number “1017” of the anime, which arrives on August 6th in Japan.
Synopsis
The story revolves around Monkey D. Luffy, a young man who gained a rubber body after eating the magical Gomu Gomu no Mi (the Rubber Fruit). Inspired by his childhood idol, the powerful pirate Red-Haired Shanks, he becomes a pirate and sets sail across the sea to find the mythical treasure, the One Piece, and proclaim himself the Pirate King.
Since the Straw Hat Pirates entered Wano Country, Luffy has declared war on the infamous Kaido, beginning a battle that has been ongoing for over a year. However, the preview for One Piece episode 1069 shows that their fight is nearing its end. The video features scenes of the two characters frantically exchanging blows with their transformations. While Luffy unleashes multiple attacks with Gear 4, Kaido retaliates with his dragon and hybrid forms.
Additionally, after episode 1069, the anime will finally adapt the most anticipated moment of the fight, Luffy awakening Gear 5. If the anime doesn't go on hiatus or have a filler episode in the coming weeks, this moment should arrive in episode 1071.
