In Ghost in the Shell, also known as Ghost of the Future, Major Motoko Kusanagi , a cybernetic police officer, fights to bring justice to the streets of her futuristic megacity. The new animation will be a prequel and will show Motoko's youth. The animation will be divided into four 50-minute parts. Starting with "Ghost Pain," which will be shown in Japanese cinemas on June 22nd and should get a Blu-ray edition on July 26th. Tow Ubukata, the creator of Mardock Scramble, is writing the scripts, and Kazuchika Kise will be the main director. The soundtrack is by musician and producer Cornelius .
