We finally have the new anime from Akira creator Katsuhiro Otomo revealed. Titled Orbital Era , the new animation will explore elements of space fantasy.
Orbital Era was revealed at Anime Expo 2019 , which takes place in Los Angeles. The story is set in the near future in a space colony that is under construction.
The story focuses on the relationships within a group of crew members on a space station. The protagonist is an American boy who wears a helmet with the abbreviation for the Soviet Union.

Despite being set in space, Otomo explains that the project will not be science fiction, but based on scientific facts and exploring a more fantasy-oriented path.
