Oshi no Ko – Creator reveals the reason for discarding Ai Hoshino

Spoiler alert : The anime Oshi no Ko begins with a one-and-a-half-hour special to give a full introduction to the character Ai Hoshino and shock viewers with her tragic death at the end of the episode. However, Aka Akasaka , the manga's writer, revealed that he had no plans to discard Ai so early in the story.

The manga Oshi no Ko is getting an anime adaptation

In 2021, Aka Akasaka commented in an interview with Livedoor News about the experience of creating the manga Oshi no Ko and developing its story. The mangaka is also asked if the scene where Ai is stabbed by a stalker fan was planned from the beginning, but he admits that the decision to kill the character came during the manga's development.

“Actually, this is an idea that was born during serialization. In the beginning, it was planned that Ai and the children would be active in the entertainment world for quite some time, but when I actually started drawing, Ai was too strong for a manga character.”

Synopsis:

The story follows a doctor named Gorou , a fan of a 16-year-old idol Ai Hoshin . One day, Hoshino appears at his office, claiming to be pregnant with twins, but her manager tells her to abort the babies. However, the idol refuses to abort; she wants to have both children. Gorou promises her a safe delivery. Little does he know that an encounter with a mysterious figure will result in his premature death, or so he thought. However, upon opening his eyes in the arms of his beloved idol, Gorou discovers he has been reborn as Aquamarine Hoshino, 's newborn son ! With his world turned upside down, Gorou soon discovers that the world of showbiz is full of controversies, where talent doesn't always bring success.

Therefore, Akasaka and Yokoyari began the Shueisha 's Young Jump magazine in 2020. Furthermore, the publisher released the sixth compiled book volume in November 2021.
